¥7,740

Dashi packs from Kayanoya, the food brand of Kubara Honke in Fukuoka, filled with powdered grilled flying fish (yaki-ago), bonito flakes, round herring and ma-kombu kelp. A little sea salt and soy sauce are added as a base seasoning, so one simmered pack gives a lightly seasoned stock for miso soup, simmered dishes and noodle soups. The pack can also be torn open and the powder used as a seasoning.

How to use
Put 1 pack in 400 ml of water and heat; once it boils, simmer over medium heat for 2–3 minutes, then remove the pack (about 2–3 servings). For a richer stock for simmered dishes or noodle sauces, use 2 packs per 500 ml. Gentle heat gives a lighter flavor, strong heat a richer one. You can also tear the pack open and sprinkle the powder into fried rice or stir-fries.
